The Mitsubishi Evo X is a big favorite on this show, in fact, it’s one of Todd’s top five favorite cars. So, when the Golf R called out the Evo as one of its target competitors we knew this would be a tough fight.

We reviewed the GSR version a few years ago, but this is the more expensive dual-clutch MR, with the “every option you can have” touring package added on top.

How does the Golf R compare to this very expensive version of the Evo and the more-similar priced and spec’d WRX? When the guys finally park the Evo, they’ll talk about the Golf’s place in the world of AWD.

And if you’d like to see the entire piece instead of one car at a time, that will be posted here soon.

I agree with the general idea that the EVO would be the most exciting to own and drive, but the WRX makes more sense as a DD with some sportiness throw in for weekend warriors. I’m a little concerned about what’s going to happen with the new WRX, though. Looks to be some radical changes (especially with the WRX becoming its own line rather than being part of the Impreza’s.)

Great review guys! Been waiting for all three of these to come out to see who the winner is and looks like one of the vehicles on my list, the Subaru was the winner. After watching these videos I will add that to my list of new cars to test next year.

Great video guys. I have been eagerly awaiting this review. Wow, how much did Todd love the MR!!! He had a huge smile on his face for most of the vid, check out the still frame 7.10 to 7.24. I SOOOO want an MR but in Canada they cost $51,800!!! excluding delivery and taxes, up here Mitsubishi only offer a fully spec-ed model with sat nav etc). With taxes and delivery you’re looking at $60k!!!! And as Todd said, gas, service etc will cost you considerably more too… Shame…
